Radio Alive90.5 Afghanistan Australia Radio (AAR)

 

Afghanistan Australia Radio (AAR) is a platform dedicated to serving the Afghan community in Australia by providing news, cultural programming, and entertainment that reflects their experiences and interests. Hosted by Mujgan Tahery, the show aired on Saturday from 4 PM to 5 PM, offering a space for discussions, music, and stories that resonate with the Afghan diaspora. AAR aims to connect listeners with their heritage while also fostering a sense of community and belonging in their new environment. Through its programming, AAR plays a vital role in promoting Afghan culture and addressing issues relevant to the community in Australia.

Sewing Classes – Every Friday 9:30am to 11am

We provide participants with the opportunity to learn essential sewing skills, from basic techniques to advanced projects. These classes promote creativity, foster community connections, and empower individuals to create their own garments and crafts, while also offering a supportive environment for cultural exchange and collaboration and great opportunity for future employment.

English Speaking For Living – Every Thursday from 4pm to 5pm

“English for Living” is a practical language program designed to help individuals improve their English skills for everyday situations. This program focuses on essential vocabulary, conversation skills, and cultural understanding, enabling participants to navigate daily life, engage with the community, and enhance their overall confidence in using English in various contexts.

Schedule: Every Thursday from 4:00pm to 5:00pm and Friday from 11:00am to 12:00pm.

Location: Nepean Community College – Shop 115/585 High St, Penrith NSW 2750.

Exchange Events

Regular events that showcase diverse cultures through food, music, dance, and art, fostering understanding and appreciation among community members, with a special focus on welcoming and integrating new arrivals from Afghanistan.

Driver Licensing Access Program - Every Tuesday from 3:45pm to 5:00pm

This program assists new refugees and immigrants in obtaining their driver’s licenses by providing information on licensing requirements, offering practice tests, and facilitating driving lessons to enhance their mobility and independence in the community.

Employment & Education Pathways

This program provides support and resources for individuals seeking job opportunities and educational advancement. It includes resume writing workshops, interview preparation, career counselling, and connections to local training programs and educational institutions to help participants enhance their skills and improve their employability.

Cultural Orientation Sessions

Offering information on Australian customs, laws, and community resources to help new arrivals navigate their new environment effectively.

Job Readiness Workshops

Offering training in resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies to empower participants in securing employment opportunities.

Health and Wellness Programs

Organizing workshops on nutrition, mental health, and physical fitness, while providing access to essential health resources to promote overall well-being in the community.

Youth Engagement Programs

Offering activities and mentorship aimed at fostering leadership development, cultural pride, and community service among young individuals.

Basic Computer classes - Thursday from 4pm to 6pm

Our computer classes cater to all skill levels—beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Participants learn essential computer literacy, including how to use email, word processing, spreadsheets, internet browsing, and digital safety. These classes are ideal for anyone seeking to build confidence and independence in using technology for work, study, or daily life.
